• Serves as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Lead for a work unit. Plans, schedules, and coordinates work; determines resource needs of a work unit and directs work of the work unit. Coordinates maintenance and repair assignments with crafts and contractors. Performs process control analysis; interprets results and make process adjustments.• Provides shift, process, and safety leadership; organizes, and plans daily assignments to meet short- and long-term goals. Coordinates staffing needs with other work units while maintaining positive work relationships. Reviews and pend-approves timesheets, prepares shift and process logs and reports. Counsels and coach’s operators with leadership support. • Coordinates and provides technical expertise on special projects. Participates during pre-design, design and construction of capital improvement projects and repair and maintenance projects. Identifies resource needs and purchases supplies and equipment with supervisor approval; maintains inventory and ensures purchasing procedures are followed; provides data for budget forecasting.• Assists supervisor in coordination of operational needs, reports obstacles and/or process operation issues, provides training of operators with an emphasis on safety and process operations.• Provides leadership in safety by conducting job hazard analysis and lockout tagout of equipment, assists with and creates standard operating procedures. Serves as an incident commander for emergencies until relieved, activates callout and emergency notification and notifies management of process upsets, bypasses and other maintenance needs requiring immediate attention.• Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing. Leads team meetings, collaborates and supports the team to meet bureau goals and objectives while creating an equitable and inclusive work environment.• Performs related duties as assigned.

• Full-time Lead Operator for liquids. Liquid operations includes headworks, primary treatment, secondary treatment, console , some scheduling, lab duties, chemical scrubbers, etc.• Relief Crew and Special Operations Group. Relief for all operational positions including console. Console includes surveillance of the Portland Collections System Operations using SCADA and HYDRA. • Perform and interpretation of process control tests including Settleometer, SOUR, microscope slide staining, D.O., blanket depths, temperature and pH readings.• Daily plant checks including meter readings, equipment performance/calibration and visual observations including I-Fix (SCADA).• Sampling/analysis/calculations including residual and free chlorine on foot in all weather.• Read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, SOP’s.• MS Excel, PowerPoint, CMMS programs such as Oracle.• Chemically Enhanced Primary Treatment system.

I was chosen by this agency, Local 1005 representatives, and part of Daimler Trucks management to advocate for the 180+ employees that were laid off with me in January of 2009. We were all qualified for federal funding through the TRADE ACT bill. It was my responsibility to notify my former coworkers that they were entitled to Federal funding for reeducation, partial COBRA reimbursement, job placement assistance and other TRADE ACT related entitlements. I was also responsible for teaching them how to get all of this help. There were deadlines and rules that had to be followed and it was not easy to keep all of my coworkers on track. I helped them research new careers and training options right before starting my own reeducation program. I loved helping my coworkers, learned a lot about advocating for people and found this job to be a great blessing.

I acted as a Liaison to our Engineering and Quality Assurance departments, which demonstrates my ability to understand specifications and follow processes or procedures independently.I was in charge of assigning corrective actions to production teams, following up on their progress while helping and training them as needed. I was also responsible for making their progress transparent for our operating unit,(180+ people in this unit) and our management team. It was my job to investigate and keep track of quality issues. It was also my job to encourage our team leaders to resolve these issues in a timely manner.I created a new way to oversee the employee suggestion system to make the system more transparent for everyone. This made it possible to complete 10 times as many suggestions as we had previously been completing.
