Project Coordinator

Loughborough

Managing projects and teams of decorators. Project administration. Purchasing and hiring materials and equipment. Quality assurance including producing and enforcing snagging lists. Financial monitoring. - Managing Projects: On a day to day basis this involves dealing with clients, employees and subcontractors and ensuring all roles are being undertaken as required for on time completion. Issues with clients are resolved with as little impact on profit as possible. Staff need to be managed and motivated to deliver the best possible product. In August 2014 I took on a £55k project on 5 days notice. The project had been scheduled to be undertaken over a 6 week period but I successfully co-ordinated the works to complete over 4 weeks with a £12k profit margin meeting the completion deadline. - Project administration: maintaining records of all materials, equipment and staffing relevant to projects in line with company policy and procedure. Recording communication and agreements relating to contracts. - Purchasing and hire: calculating material quantities in relation to project programme and ensuring delivery of all materials to enable minimal stock while maintaining work progress. Hiring additional equipment to enable works to take place such as platform lifts and ending hire as soon as possible to save costs. - Quality: Inspection of works and enforcing remedial measures such as snagging lists, staff discipline and training. Escalating issues with staff and materials to management or suppliers as required. - Financial monitoring: continual monitoring of spend against planned costs, and of project progress against staffing costs. Implement actions to remedy or minimise the implications of cost variation; including changing staff, seeking additional funds, obtaining alternative materials and changing working practices.

Assistant Project Development Officer

Derby City Council _ Asset Management

Derby

Working within the Asset Management team, as effective landlord and property owner, my remit was to manage both school and corporate capital projects. Successfully managing a share of the property portfolio of over 100 buildings required: liaising with head teachers, external contractors and other council departments. Ensuring that projects were completed to required standards and statutory obligations necessitated successful communication and negotiation. This role also comprised managing, coaching and developing a team of three employees that performed the administration functions of the department. In this role my duties included: Managing building projects: frequently valued in excess £500,000, I ensured project delivery within budget and on time through to deadline completion by communicating effectively with all parties, information monitoring and maintaining control of all parts of the process. These duties required acute attention to detail. Funding claims: reconciling and compiling financial records to claim funds from bodies such as The Big Lottery. This involved evidencing spending against project delivery and demonstrating alignment with the original funding bid. Problem solving: I successfully resumed the Big Lottery £825k Youth Activity Centre project following a hiatus resulting from an environmental issue. To see the project to fruition it was necessary to overcome statutory, environmental, archaeological and budget challenges by building effective working relationships with the relevant parties, ensuring restrictions were not detrimental to the project and producing relevant documentation to attain any further funding and approvals required.
