For the role of Undergraduate Academic Assistant, I worked in the Provost Office at UBC's Okanagan campus on various projects under the Director for Flexible Projects.One project that I completed in this role was designing and customizing the Canvas Catalog platform using custom HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery. Another aspect of this project was administering the Canvas Catalog platform rollout for non-credit courses and supporting faculty with their utilization of non-credit credentials for open-source and Creative Commons content.I also worked on a web development project called Time Estimator that was developed and deployed (to a Linux server) using R’s shiny apps library as well as custom JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS. This project was created to build upon an existing Workload Calculator tool from Wake Forest University and improving the functionality to fit the need of UBC faculty and students.Another web development project that I work on in this role was the UBC Curriculum MAP tool which consisted of developing front-end pages using HMTL/CSS, and Bootstrap as well as back-end emailing tools and data visualization using PHP and JavaScript. I also lead a group of six co-op students using agile scrum methodologies for the creation of a large portion of the administrative functionality of the Curriculum MAP project.Another project was actively updating and managing websites for departments including the Provost Office, OPAIR, and the Makerspace using UBC's Wordpress Theme as well as implementing Tableau Public for big data visualization on the new website. Through this role I also supported the experiential learning initiative including interviewing students, photographing them, and building a small website with the information gathered.

In this role I worked under the School of Engineering and Department of Biology to conduct data analysis and visualize the findings within the data.On this project I analyzed metagenomes and genetic sequences using PICRUSt2 Python library and Conda. Once these data were collected, I organized the data into CSV and TSV files using Python and R libraries through the PICRUSt pipeline. With these organized data, I visualized the data using R libraries ggplot2, pheatmap, and qiime. Once the visualization was complete, I ran statistical analysis including p-tests on the data to test the hypothesis of the project.

For the role of Undergraduate Research Assistant, I worked under the School of Engineering at UBC's Okanagan campus on various projects, some of which are listed below.One of the projects was working on online Canvas training for the newly opened Makerspace at my university. This includes creating digital badges using Badgr and creating step by step instructions for 3D printing, CNC carving, laser engraving & cindering, sewing & embroidering, and soldering.One of the software development projects that I worked on was the TextAnalyzer project consisting of developing an application for detecting keywords in paragraphs of text such as an essay using Python libraries such as tkinter, openpyxl, pandas, xlrd, and re. I also provided walkthroughs and in-person training groups and 1 on 1 sessions for faculty, staff, and students working in the makerspace.Another project that I worked on was to build the makerspace website using WordPress and UBC's WordPress theme, including preparing, managing and adding content such as images, videos, and text with HTML and CSS.

I was hired for this role by the School of Engineering at UBC's Okanagan campus. The purpose was to lead and organize all of the logistics for the NPU Summer camp that ran from June - August 2019. This summer camp was organized by a Professor in the School of Engineering to bring students from Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in Xi'an, China to UBC's Okanagan campus to create the opportunity for institutional collaboration.In my role, I scheduled and planned events, field trips, and Teaching Assistant work schedules. I also supported and communicated with international exchange students with a language barrier. I was also in charge of leading events and providing guidance for the students and Teaching Assistants of the program.
