Dave Baron maintains a general civil practice representing businesses, lending institutions, local government entities, and individuals. His areas of focus include commercial litigation and transactional matters, municipal law, administrative proceedings, real estate, and estate planning.

Alderman for Kankakee’s 2nd Ward

As a member of the Law Department's Constitutional & Commercial Litigation Division, Dave Baron represented the City in a wide variety of litigation brought under provisions of the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions, including the First and Second Amendments, and Public Takings, Equal Protection, and Due Process Clauses. Mr. Baron regularly argued in federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies, crafted and implemented discovery strategies through depositions and managed document reviews, and prepared dispositive motions on the City’s behalf.

Dave Baron was an associate in the firm’s Chicago office and its Commercial, Competition, and Securities Litigation Group. His practice covered several areas of law including commercial litigation, securities and commodities litigation, SEC investigation guidance, antitrust litigation and regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisition litigation, and public utility advising and administrative proceedings. Mr. Baron was a member of a trial team for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy confirmation hearing, individually focusing on the application of company valuation methodologies and expert witness preparation. He also maintained a pro bono practice through the firm’s Capital Litigation Project.
