I have worked on a range of projects with central government, local government and business. Included strategic advice on urban development, RMA and transport planning, investment and procurement (eg; PPPs and alliancing), and on how best to engage with government agencies, local government, Councillors, Boards and Ministers. I was recently part of the Ministerial Inquiry panel on Land Use, woody debris and sediment in Tairawhiti and Wairoa (aka the Slash Inquiry). Other recent recent projects include working with BECA on advice to Pacific Islands and Wellington Councils on waste management, and to MFE on implementation of spatial strategies I also helped the NZTA develop their resilience framework, urban development framework and undertook a review the Road Efficiency Group, advising Minister on Franz Josef resilience issues and advising BoPRC on urban development and transport issues and governance (and did an independent review of their latest RLTP). I also previously Chaired the Jobs for Nature Advisory Group (providing advice to a Secretariat at MfE and to Ministers) and Chaired the Technical Advisory Group on the design of a container return scheme for NZ (providing advice to Ministers and MfE). I am also a CouncilMark assessor and undertake independent performance assessments of Councils (under the auspices of LGNZ). And have done work for the World Bank in Serbia and Azerbaijan.

    Let’s Get Wellington Moving is a joint initiative between:- Wellington City Council (WCC)- Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC), and- Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.These organisations are supported by our mana whenua partners Taranaki Whānui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika and Ngāti Toa Rangatira.Our role is to provide a way to work together, so the decisions we make are balanced and consider what else is going on in the city and region. As a group, we discuss each project, agree the best way forward and make sure it's delivered.Our focus is the area from Ngā Ūranga Gorge to Miramar including the Wellington Urban Motorway, access to the port, and connections to the central city, Wellington Hospital, and the airport. It includes all the ways we get to and around our city, and how the city develops alongside its transport system.

    Led the recovery from the Kaikoura earthquake and then later the Whakatane floods, at national level. The aim was to support local recovery in order to achieve the most efficient and effective recovery, ensure communities are more resilient to future risks. This was a fixed term role to located in the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management (part of DPMC). This involved establishing and managing a small team (varied from 4 -12) to coordinate and lead across governement agencies that deliver services, policy, regulation and funding across everything from housing, social recovery to infrastrcuture repair. The key role was supporting regional and local recovery efforts, providing national leadership, communicating with communities, working closely with Ministers, Councils, stakeholders and Iwi.
