Over the past 20+ years, I have and continue to enjoy being a part of BCIT’s educational team. Having the opportunity to work in many diverse & instrumental roles, instructing and working hands on with our students, creating new courses and curriculum, to managing the Joinery department as the Chief instructor, bettering our students education while always striving for excellence within our department. I also had the opportunity of working as the Acting Associate Dean where I excelled both personally and professionally. Many of my roles focused on providing leadership and organization throughout key areas of the BC construction industry. Invaluable relationships have been sustained throughout many service contracts, and relationships have been cultivated to better the future of small First Nation communities throughout the province. My vision and belief has always been to give 110% no matter what the outcome. When I initially started my career as an instructor in 1992, it was important for me to try and always make a difference and here I am 24 years later with the same drive and passion. I enjoy being challenged and continuously learning. Recently in 2015 I achieved my MAL (Masters of Leadership) at the Royal Roads University in Victoria, B.C. In past years, I have been an integral part of BCIT’s shop improvements such as Joinery’s dust collection and Welding’s exhaust system, together creating a better and safer working environment for both the students and instructional staff. And most recently, a vision a college and myself had almost 10 years ago is now a completed state of the art Biomas system that will offset BCIT’s gas consumption while at the same time consuming Carpentry’s and Joinery’s wood waste stream for years to come. Because of this project, I was recognized for my outstanding contribution to sustainability and received BCIT’s sustainability award.In closing I would like to say I fear no task and welcome the challenges the future may bring.
