About Dave Eargle
I'm now a cybersecurity consultant at Carve Systems! Below is out-of-date! Will update one day...---I’m a business school professor, but secretly I’m a computer scientist. My life goal is Automate All The Things. In my research, I study usable cybersecurity and dark side of information technology usage (here’s my vita: https://daveeargle.com/vita/). I do “full stack” academic development, including developing my own online experiment platforms and tools, administering tasks through cloud computing platforms, and doing my own data wrangling, statistical analysis, and visualizations, always exclusively using the latest and greatest technologies. I often end up contributing back to open-source projects, check out my GitHub profile: https://github.com/deargleI create and teach cybersecurity and business analytics courses. I developed a cool cybersecurity data analytics program in collaboration with CU’s school of engineering. Check out https://daveeargle.com/classesI like woodworking, self-hosted internet-of-things electrical engineering, and gardening, preferably all at once.

Topics include malware classification (binomial and multinomial), modeling using mobile sensor data, network traffic parsing (PCAPS => netflows) and malicious IP, domain classification- A focus on using python-sklearn – on reading documentation and source code- Also a focus on “open data science” – on hosted Jupyter notebooks, on using Git and Github to store and share code projects. Also on sharing and programmatically consuming shared data.- Labs have students host models behind API endpoints (Flask app). Models are also deployed to AWS and GCP’s machine learning platforms.# Business Analytics- Descriptive: querying, and ETL/wrangling data with Alteryx- Predictive: supervised vs unsupervised machine learning algorithms- Used Alteryx and DataRobot AutoML- Covering topics such as association rules, k-means clusters, regressions, correlations, and text mining
