I sought the opportunity to follow some of my nerdspirations and was brought on to define the technical product features and lead development of the software producing the data product.Product: Turned a broad vision into a tractable product roadmap.• Customer discovery: Lead sessions with prospective customers to guide roadmap decisions.• Defined release objectives and priorities driving the backlog.• Collaborated with a team of UI/UX designers and analysts to flesh out the product and engineering plans.• Working with our engineering team, we built a killer demo -fast- that was presented to the CEO/Chairman of AT&T and later featured in a meeting with the board of directors.Technical: Responsible for setting the technical direction and validating analytical feasibility through small scale studies on 500 TB of WiFi session and CDR (call detail record) data.• Wrote custom data pipelines (R, Hive, and Hadoop) to perform data validation, exploratory data analysis, aggregation, and generate custom choropleths and summary graphs used in client engagements.• Wrote new private R libraries to generalize and modularize new algorithms discovered by colleagues in AT&T Labs.• Prototyped new technique to geo-reference data sources using network coverage models and Open Street Map data via custom R, Hive, Postgres, and PostGIS pipeline and Google Earth database driven presentation layer.
