• I started this role in April of 2011, an internal move within Barclays after several months on secondment with the team.We provide the design and support of Barclays' Cloud technology, built on OpenShift Enterprise.

• In Getronics I was the senior AIX Technical Specialist in a team of 3 people and primarily maintained the systems for customers including Iceland, Superdrug, Sit-Up TV, and Group 4 Security. My primary role was to.
• Microcode / firmware updates on a bi-annually basis for each customer. This would be a recommendation but not necessarily implemented until a change window could be identified by the customer. In addition this process.
• OS upgrades (technology levels, service packs, and specific fixes) to keep each system relatively up to date.
• HMC upgrades on a yearly basis.
• Security hardening of the OS such as removing unnecessary services and ensuring users only have the level of access they need.
• Backup strategies, ie daily/weekly/monthly filesystem backups and weekly mksysb’s to a NIM server.

• This position within the bank was as a member of a 15 strong team of unix technicians based across Lancashire and Manchester, supporting the Co-Operative’s infrastructure and platforms. This was a consistently changing.
• Design and installation of the Bank’s ‘future technology base’ utilizing IBM P590’s, P570’s and P550’s, with AIX 5.3, configured in resilient clusters using virtual lpars. Multiple services were installed onto this.
• Support and development of the CWS managed service on a 24x7 basis consisting of approximately 20 HP servers running HPUX 11.0/11i, HP ServiceGuard, and Oracle. Data storage was typically handled on external Hitachi.
• Installation, development and support of 12 sets of HA clustered Nokia firewalls running Checkpoint NG on the banks new production internet-based service. 4 sets of IP530’s and 2 sets of IP350’s were used to protect.
• To install, support, maintain and develop the branch network running Sun Microsystems architecture, consisting of 2 E4500 production central servers with 2 E450 disaster recovery servers, feeding the branch network..
