The Directorate of Force Development - Army is responsible for identifying and consolidating Army's future needs in order to support it's continuous modernisation efforts. As a staff officer within this directorate Dave is responsible for examining Army's logistic supply needs into the future.

The integration of Land Forces 2014 and the Chief of Army's Exercise 2014 was a trial and Dave was responsible for evaluating this arrangement; his recommendations informed Army's position on the future relationship of the two events. Dave is a graduate of the Royal Thai Army Command and General Staff College (Bangkok, Thailand). The Command and General Staff College aims to prepare selected officers for command and staff appointments at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in single Service, joint and integrated environments.

Dave completed the Thai General Language course at the Australian Defence Force School of Languages. This course trains selected personnel in 6 Thai language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing, translating and interpreting) in preparation for future appointments and overseas training opportunities.

During this time Dave, completed the US Army Aerial Delivery Materiel Officer Course, RAM Air Parachute Re-Pack Course and AR2 Course at Fort Lee (VA). After completing these courses conducted on the job training at the 82nd Airborne Division and 18th Airborne Corps Fort Bragg (NC). April 2002 completed "Prop Blast".
