Dave has been a leader in several roles covering various forms of business including co-funding 1AirClub with Mehran and now working with NegotiationWise and teaching people to fly.Successful Negotiating outcomes require wise decisions to be made and Dave has framed an adaptation of aviation processes into a specialised business strategy. His human factor training has allowed him to align his strategy with the NegotiationWise mantra of Plan | Engage | Decide and to find creative ways to help business leaders infuse this mantra as part of their business DNA. Part of the success is based around the human element, understanding the psyche and behavioural style of those in your team and the opposing team. Human Factors education is a specialist skill of Dave’s tool box.Dave worked as a captain with several international airlines where he developed a solid foundation in leadership and communication. These skills complement the NegatiationWise team and help our clients access a diverse and knowledgeable team who help business leaders develop lasting negotiating and operational cultures.Dave has maintained a 22 year training and teaching commitment to karate, his fitness passion. Like most sports, karate is developed around "attitude & focus" and Dave has applied these traits to his business attributes. He is an active networker (a past President of Melbourne Business Network for several years), and cherishes his 33 year career with some well respected corporate names; Ansett Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Hart Aviation, Qatar Airways, Mr Party Hire and now with K Living, 1 AirClub and NegotiationWise. Dave still maintains his Quality and Safety qualifications and his Flight Instructor rating as well as flying corporate jets for Australian Corporate Jet Charter (ACJC) as he believes in maintaining a connection with industry grass roots.

After almost 2 years of flying to destinations around the globe, many I would have never imagined I would ever visit, it is time to put some other skills to work. Non Technical Skills training is such a key component of providing a safe and efficient operation and pilots can no longer rely solely on their flying skills. The opportunity to be part of a great Human Factors team and facilitate pilots to develop and grow the way they think, act and behave is something I am truly looking forward to, while still having the ability to go flying each month!

After a few years at Tiger and working with a great team, it is time to continue my aviation journey. The opportunity to work for a Premium Airline with plenty of promotional and developmental opportunities are not too frequent and the desire was too great. I am looking forward to being a part of the Qatar Airways team and flying one of the youngest fleet of aircraft in the world.Flying to destinations all around the globe is exciting and being able to do it with my primary skills is a bonus. Qatar Airways will offer me the ability to use and develop my skill set, while experiencing the ex-pat lifestyle. It is a journey I am very much looking forward to.I will miss family and friends, but in today's technological world, people are never too far away. Time to see where my next journey takes me.

This role involves fostering, encouraging and engaging with Flight Crew to help improve the safety culture of the airline. It requires being part of a team conducting safety investigations and assisting with Operational safety audit development and conduct. As part of the safety interaction I provide articles for the Tiger Safety newsletter and help identify operational safety risks and hazards affecting Flight Crew. In the future the role will involve presenting Non-Technical Skills training and other ad-hoc Safety Systems presentations to Flight and Cabin Crew.As a representative of the Safety Department, I liaise with the Flight Operations division regarding the management of risk and flight safety data.

After several years break from the Airline flying, I'm back. A new challenge and after 13 years as a Boeing pilot, I have converted to the Airbus world! Another challenge, but one that I am enjoying. Hopefully I get the chance to use all my other management and business skills as part of my new venture.

All good things must come to an end and my time has come. (Although a little sooner than I hoped). I have dedicated a lot of time and effort to Melbourne Business Network (MBN) and I wake this morning with an empty sort of feeling, but knowing that I leave the Network in the hands of a passionate and very capable group of people who will continue to drive and push the success that MBN has achieved during my time as a committee member.It has been an honour and privilege to meet and work with all the past and present committee members, staff, MBN members and sponsors. And, I could never forget the support, mentoring and learning that John Stock (the Executive Officer) has given me. The experience has been priceless! You have all helped me grow personally to a level of business and personal knowledge that I could never have imagined I would reach and I thank you all. My passion for small business will never dwindle and I will continue to develop this passion in both my small and big business interests, connections and network. I am a big believer of one door closing and another one opening.We cannot change the past, only the future and while the future will hold challenges for MBN, I am confident that the committee will meet these challenges head on. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing the continued MBN success. Who knows where I might pop up next?

One of my favourite jobs was conducting corporate jet charter operations. Flying some wonderful and educational business and entertainment people to some fantastic destinations. The role involved managing all areas of the charter operation and well as client support and management. It required a great team effort and we had a fantastic team to work with.

Working with a lower cost division, Air Japan was a popular airline for the Japanese Lesure travel market. Using B767 aircraft we had a great team of expat and local pilots flying to medium haul international destinations. We also conducted cargo operations for ANA cargo.

I started working for this iconic Australian Brand. Australia's second-biggest airline with a rich history and loyal client base. Initially, I started as a First Officer and became a Captain in 1996.It was a sad day when the doors closed on this icon, but we all move on. Many of the people I had the honour of working with are still friends of mine, after so many years.
