Manage the Architecture of the Global Transport Network, including multi-vendor Next Gen capable network devices. Provide high-level network design and POC testing, in addition to Tier 5 support to Operations and Engineering teams. Prepare RFP and cost analysis for new networks. Responsible for new product development based on concept; from inception to deployment including new feature creation/enhancement, automation, and SDN. Work with equipment vendors on network designs and requirements and prepare RFP’s for new systems. • Act as the technical liaison for Engineering for all Transport related matters. • Vet new system solutions / designs in lab. Well versed in all aspects of data center design, including AC/DC power, Fiber and Copper plants, and superstructure. Highly experienced in all aspects of deployment of large scale networks.

Daily duties include the design, budgeting, and procurement of new Ring designs including traditional SONET also including Next Generation ROADM based networks. Versed in designing both Cisco and Ciena equipment utilizing design tools for both companies. ONDP and NMT for Ciena, CTP for Cisco. Our group owns all the Layer 0/1 Core Network equipment in the United States and in Canada from installation to decommission as well as the lifecycle for all Core Layer 0/1 Equipment. We handle all OAM&P functions as well as all software upgrades to stay within vendor support. Tier 4/5 on-call escalation for the Technical Operations Center. We also design all new IDF’s in our Datacenters including space, rack, and power requirements including copper and fiber runs. We install all new network equipment in the field following BICSI practices. We handle capacity augments for new capacity. Our team coordinates and manages multiple sub contractors for new network builds. Quote and Submit Capital Justification and procure new network equipment utilizing allotted budgets for specific builds. I also helped procure and implement our Next Gen LAB from multiple vendors. We design and plan for all DC power within our centers and coordinate the addition of capacity including new rectifiers and DC power plants. Well versed in Change management procedures and coordinate all change activity on the network to coincide with SunGard practices and procedures for impact and notification to customers. Write MOPs for all change activities. Help other techs on ring designs and on new equipment offerings. Work hand in hand with equipment vendors on network designs and requirements and quote out new systems as well. Prepare budgetary numbers for leadership. OSP design and implementation to build the physical Dark Fiber plant between a number of our data centers. Coordinate all carrier buildouts within our carrier meet me rooms at all sites.
