The Colomb¡a R¡s¡ng Project!'s exclamation marks define the initiative as an amplifier full of joy and energy. Colombia is a beautifully extreme and boisterous - and uniquely innovative - place that I absolutely love. I established "The CRP" to build bridges between Colombia and the rest of the world at a pivotal and delicate time in history, the post-conflict era. Currently the CRP works to share news and analyses of current events, especially (but not limited to) sustainable development, tourism, post-conflict transformation, and social innovation. The CRP is slowly putting the pieces together to build the Cross Colombia Peace Trail. The trail aims to be created from the bottom up, connecting communities and bringing new options for sustainable development from local, national, and foreign travelers alike. It aspires to be amazing - Colombia's first cross-country walking path, extending the length of a stunning country and winding across its wildly varying terrain, connecting diverse cultures, linking a variety of initiatives (trail clubs, local ecotourism projects, etc.) already underway.

Teach online master's level course in Social and Economic Development in the sustainable international development context, including series of 8 master classes: Context Analysis & Practice, Social Economic Development, Community Engagement, Impact Measurement, Communication & Advocacy, Project Management & Delivery, Finance and Fundraising, and Best Practices & Innovation. The Impact Academy programs are designed for both students and working professionals who are interested in pursuing a career in conservation or social development.

Coordinated critical interdisciplinary efforts to confront the threat of climate change in Texas and beyond. The first of three current UT "grand challenges," Planet Texas 2050 brings together researchers from 14 colleges, schools, and units across campus. It is a large and ambitious multidisciplinary effort meant to amplify existing research strengths around one or more “moonshot” projects. As such, PT2050 is designed as an an eight-year sprint. PT2050 aims to find solutions that will make communities more resilient and better prepared by bringing together architects, archaeologists, city planners, public health experts, geologists, engineers, computer scientists, artists — and more to achieve new insights and applied breakthroughs.

I created ReImagine Impact International (ri3) as a consultancy focused on stepping up the game for organizations committed to social and environmental impact. Ri3 takes a special interest in environmental issues affecting people and places in the developing world, especially pertaining to the sustainability of tropical forests, ecosystems, and productive landscapes. We guide clients and teams in results-based adaptive management (monitoring, evaluation, & theories of change); business and program design; fundraising strategy & practice; online and offline community management; and desk-based literature reviews and targeted research.

As Director of Strategy & Impact, my efforts were directed at applying the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation (www.miradi.org) at a landscape scale (this included serving as the Conservation Coaches Network Mesoamerica Franchise co-coordinator, a role that extends beyond my EcoLogic tenure); supervised and helped execute communications, social media, and qualitative story-based evaluation; contributed frequently to prospect research to boost fundraising and identify new income streams; coordinated strategic partnership development; and represented EcoLogic externally through talks, meetings, and thought leadership.

As Sr. Manager for Impact, Learning, and Innovation, I oversaw four key areas of work: (1) project/program design and evaluation; (2) staff learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing; (3) partnership and alliance development; and (4) overall strategic planning and adaptation. Worked to help EcoLogic adapt its planning and reporting processes to fit its unique empowerment-based community conservation model.

As Senior Program Officer, I supervised a three-person team and coordinated with Program Officers and the wider team to manage all aspects of institutional fundraising. Funding institutions represented 75% of EcoLogic's $2 million budget and were a mix of family, professional, & corporate foundations; public agencies (e.g. US Fish and Wildlife Service); and awards/prize entries. As Senior Program Officer, I joined the Leadership Team in early 2012 after the departure of EcoLogic's founder/ED, managing director, and regional director. I led the process of finalizing our 2013-2017 strategic plan which set a vision for EcoLogic to scale its community-based, one partner per site approach to a new landscape-level model.

Developed service learning, environmental education, and leadership curriculum - and managed staff - for a program working to improve "Urban Wilds" and Greenways across Boston by employing high schoolers in hands on works to keep the city's natural side thriving.

As a Teaching Fellow, I was one of a cadre of front line educators helping improve outcomes and make good use of out-of-school time for middle schoolers across Boston. I joined a new program at the outset - Citizen Schools’ 8th Grade Academy - bringing together citywide students with mentors, academic coaches, community leaders, and college representatives. And I helped develop partnerships with, and serve as a kind of paid intern for, area charter schools and in the emerging Walden Media (film company).
