1997 - 2000, I worked as a case manager / Alcohol and other Drug Counselor, with the Adolescent Day Treatment Program. We provided a day treatment program to children and young adults 12 years of age to 18 years of age. The population we served, suffered from various mental health challenges that prevented attending public and private school. 2000 - 2010, I along with my supervisor started the Transitional Living Program in April of 2000. We provided services to young adults, 16 - 27 years of age that were homeless. We provided program participants with supported independent housing opportunities, as well as case management, independent living skills instruction, and general support. I became Team Lead in July of 2000, and Program Supervisor in 2009.

I was hired right out of college to work at Attic's Green Bay Transitional Living Program. It was a 90 day program created to assist clients in transitioning from incarceration back into the local community I monitored client apartments, client program and correctional supervision compliance, as well as provide general support. I co-facilitated alcohol and other drug educational groups in Green Bay as well as at Sanger B. Powers Correctional Facility.

I was nominated to apply for this position by Professor Gloria Urban, Northern Michigan University. I was interviewed along with 2 other nominee's and was offered the position. I worked as a Probation Officer. My job was to interview suspects arrested by the U.S. Marshall Service in order to prepare pretrial reports. These were submitted to the District Court Judge presiding over the specific case. I also met with those already on probation for their scheduled check-ins and facilitated drug screening as required by court order.
