Circuit DesignerAlcatel-Lucent -
Distinguished Member Of Technical StaffAlcatel-Lucent Dec 2011 - PresentWestford MassachusettsLead Hardware Architect and Electrical Designer for Small Cell Router Application. Responsibilities include developing HW architecture and design for a pole mount Small Cell Router. This application provides remote installation of Wireless Cells providing interconnect between Wireless Cells and Line of Sight Radio for backhaul applications. The Small Cell Router consist of Optical and Electrical Gbe interface, POE services, and GPON (Future DSL services). At the heart of the data plane of Small Cell Router is a Network processor providing up to 5G of through put. A Cavium single core processor is at the center of control plane. The timing plane consists of an off the shelf Stratum 3 Timing Generator. -
Circuit DesignerAlcatel-Lucent Jan 1995 - Present -
Distinguished Member Of Technical StaffAlcatel-Lucent Sep 2008 - Dec 2011Westford, MassachusettsTransferred from WT Division to IP Division: Lead Electrical Designer on xDSL Access card for “pizza box” Service Access Router. Card will be for applications providing DSL access at remote location with Gbe backhaul. Single card design that is hot swap inserted into router box. Provides 8 xDSL ports with downstream rates up to 100 Mb/s and upstream rates up to 50 Mb/s per port. Responsibility included power architecture design of card, selection of DSL chipset, overall architecture of ASIC / FPGA selection and interconnect strategy. Worked with FPGA designer on I/O specifications and partitioning of architecture of the functional blocks internal to FPGA.

Distinguished Member Of Technical StaffLucent Technologies Bell Laboratories / Alcatel-Lucent Sep 2003 - Sep 2008Westford, MassachusettsLead Electrical Circuit Designer involved in the Hardware Architecture and the circuit design of Large Centralized Switch Fabric family of PWBs. The architecture consisted of both High Order and Low Order Switch Fabric devices, Multi optical line ports (configurable with child card), Stratum 3 timing solution, and on board Power QUICC III MPC8560 based control plane. Responsibilities included intermediate bus power design architecture, contol plane design, timing asset design and transmission hardware architecture design. Worked with FPGA designers on developing requirements needed for this design and also architectured and designed CPLD as part of control plane

Distinguished Member Of The Technical StaffLucent Technologies Bell Laboratories Apr 2001 - Mar 2002North Andover, MassachusettsLead Electrical Circuit Designer for Lucent Bell Laboratories: Involved in the design and prove in of the FAST Ethernet PWB. My role is the lead hardware developer of a Fast Ethernet PWB. The PWB consisted of a 16 Port FE card utilizing the Marvell Galileo Chipset 48350 and 48360 MAC, custom FPGA Data over SONET mapper with STS-1 granularity, and on board MPC8245 Motorola based processor used for provisioning and performance monitoring

Member Technical StaffLucent Technologies Bell Laboratories Jan 1998 - Apr 2001North Andover, MassachusettsElectrical Circuit Designer involved in the Architecture and design of a low cost Add/ Drop MUX for the SDH market. The product provides network protected STM-1 interface which could drop/ add any 16 of a possible 63 E1 contained in the STM-1 payload. My role was a Joint- Lead designer to produce a product to manufacturing in a 6 month interval. I was responsible for the understanding of the custom ASICs to be used and their interfaces, the MPC860 controller at the core of the control circuit, and the overall topology of the transmission path including the Low Order cross connects to create the Add/ Drop functions.

Member Of Technical StaffLucent Technologies Bell Laboratories Jan 1997 - Jan 1998North Andover, MassachusettsElectrical Circuit Designer involved in the Architecture and design of a Data Product providing Frame Relay, ATM, SONET, DS1, and HDSL interfaces. My role was the lead designer of the HDSL circuit pack, which interfaces to a TDM system supporting OC3/OC12/OC48 rates. My responsibilities were to define and document the circuit pack requirement, architecture and interface. I was also involved in defining the requirement for an In Line Powering Shelf to be used in the HDSL application.
-
Member Of The Technical Staff Level 1Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories Jan 1995 - Jan 1997North Andover, MassachusettsElectrical Circuit Designer involved in the Architecture and design of the performance monitoring system of a Hybrid Fiber Coax System. This system was developed to provide telephony over coax cable. My role was the designer and architect of alarm processing topology across all optical and RF circuit packs and the concentration of the alarms into an RF Transponder/ A secondary role was the development of a redundant plug in power module. This piece of equipment was to be out sourced. My role was the writing of the requirements for this module. Working with the outside vendors who were developing this module and verify initial prove in of early models prior to production.
