As a media advisor I delivered friendly customer service in the music, movies and games departments. This often involved listening to customer complaints and proposing reasonable solutions that were desirable to the customer. Driven by weekly sales targets, I assisted in devising floor merchandising plans with the goal of constantly improving sales results and customer experience. Being part of a tight-knit team, I often assisted in point of sale work during busy periods, which involved cash handling, answering and directing phone calls, and engaging with customers in a high-paced environment.

As a student research intern, my main project was conducting research and writing a draft academic article analysing British Columbia’s policy relating to civil disobedience/environmental protest. I also contributed to the WCEL's website by writing articles relating to current legal disputes between large resource companies and citizens/public interests groups. I took the opportunity of being abroad to participate in further legal education, attending seminars and networking events outside office hours to grasp a better understanding of particular environmental issues in the local area.

As a paralegal, I conducted legal research which involved taking instructions from solicitors, utilising legal databases, reviewing case law and legislation and providing instructing solicitors with file notes containing findings and advice. I assisted solicitors with various other tasks, including preparation of briefs, drafting subpoenas and preparing documents for hearings. Part of my role also involved attending various court registries for filing of legal documents and liaising with Duty Registrars on behalf of solicitors. I also carried out a range of administrative duties including drafting letters, editing documents, reviewing and organising files, taking telephone calls and making inquiries on behalf of solicitors.
