Responsible to the management team as the direct link for the Fire Prevention Office duties which routinely address new construction projects and projected needs for our operational divisions. My direct responsibilities include ensuring adequate response routes are designed as well as enhancing water supply demands relative to each new development proposed. Conversely, I am responsible to the elected local government body for our municipality via the management team, to ensure routine fire code inspections and life safety inspections are carried out, and fire risk trends determined to assist the local government in determining appropriate actions in addressing such trends.

Supervise a fire prevention staff of 6 that include duties such as:* maintaining a routine schedule of inspections of public, commercial, industrial and residential structures for compliance with the BC Fire Code* promote life safety through the application and presentation of public education lectures & demonstrations to all levels of society* ensure proper fire investigation procedures and methods are followed to determine cause and origin for every fire within our municipality* routinely review construction plans to ensure compliant installations of new fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, clean agent fire suppression systems, restaurant exhaust & fire suppression ssytems, exit systems, emergency lighting systems, fire separation installations, adequate fire department operational needs and any other facet of construction that impacts compliance with the BC Building and Fire Codes and NFPA Standards.
