• Project managed infrastructure upgrades both at the primary site and sites across south of the UK, involved working with local operations, contractors, IT staff.• Primary lead in the launching of new buildings, managing the local IT team, deploying network hardware, working with the general building contractors to ensure all IT systems are online in time for building launch and supporting launches.• Working with operation teams to ensure they have the IT hardware needed to support peak time events eg Christmas, Black Friday.• Support fulfilment centre IT operations from server to device level. • Support the company’s online ecommerce solution based on IIS web servers and VMWare.• Build and deploy MSSQL server for developers, my role was to build either physical or virtual windows-based server install MSSQL, connect datastore drives and run checks, after this it was handed over to the application support team to deploy the DBs. I would be responsible for the patching of the MSSQL server, the app team would shut down the SQL services allowing patching of the base OS and SQL server once completed handed back to the app team.• Configuration and management of central firewalls and load balance configurations.• Attend meetings with the developers to understand their exact needs in order to design and develop effective solutions which will integrate with existing infrastructure.• Implementing and supporting current and new infrastructure systems to support the growing business needs.• Providing infrastructure support to company wide business projects including moving our ecommerce platform from internal systems to systems hosted at a major datacentre supplier.• Creating documentation on new and existing systems including training material to be given to the service desk to assist them in their daily jobs.• Plan and manage deployments of new IT technologies including moving to a new web filtering, a SSL-VPN solution to allow secure remote access and overhauling and updating the backup systems and procedures; all of which need to follow strict timetables in order to meet the company’s business plans.
