My research seeks to understand how conscious feelings of fatigue are formed as a result of sensations emanating from interoception, exteroception and in the context of experience and beliefs.I am also interested in talent identification and development, and particularly in how coach-led decisions of athlete selection are made.

Overall responsibility for an applied sports science delivery unit. The Human Performance Unit delivers laboratory and field-based sports science testing, support and advice to the a wide range of athletes and sports people of all ability levels. The HPU also provides education sessions to school groups studying at GCSE, BTEC and A level, and provides testing and assessment for G&T school sport groups. We also conduct our own scientific research, as well as providing product development support for sports equipment and supplement manufacturers.The Human Performance also provides sponsorship to the Mud, Sweat and Gears mountain bike series, and runs a triathlon club and race team, and has a long history of assisting talented young triathletes.
