Extensive experience of all forms of packaging used for heat preserved products including cans, glass jars and sterilisable pouches. Consultant Food TechnologistProcess & Packaging Associates Feb 2000 - 2009February 2000 to date Self-employedDuring 2000 I managed a project to install a small gravy granule production line in Yorkshire and produced a series of training packages on thermal processing for two canneries and a university training department. In January 2002 I completed a one-year project with Northern Foods on the pasteurisation of chilled ready meals packed in CPET containers. Later in 2002 I commissioned an overpressure retort for Cavaghan & Gray in Hull. At the end of March 2003 I managed a project for Hazlewoods, now Greencore, installing a new ready meals line, which included 4 retorts and a 2 tonne/hr mashed potato line. During the last 3 years I carried out two projects for Associated British Foods, which included the commissioning of rotating retorts for the production of rice-based products and a project in Australia for a major petfood manufacturer. More recently, I have carried out two studies for Princes Foods in Chichester and have been part of a team responsible for the launch of a new ambient stable branded baby food on the UK market. In 2007 I again worked for Northern Foods, this time surveying ovens and ingredient cooking systems. In the Spring of 2008 I presented a training course for Northern covering pasteurisation of chilled ready meals and in 2009 commissioned a continuous pasteuriser for Gordon’s Fine Foods. I am a trained auditor and have passed the RSSL Lead Auditors course.
