My role as an Engineering Systems Technician was to look after all of the control systems that ran the various production machinery, from PC's, to PLC's, inverters, controllers and suchlike. I also helped with general facility maintenance, as well as planned routine maintenance on all associated plant.

I started with GE Healthcare as an instrumentation engineer, carrying out all of the calibrations, to help the site achieve GMP goals, and produce consistently good product.

My year spent at Dairy Crest was on shift, looking after the dairy process side of the business, dealing with machinery such as pasteurisers, homogenisers and CIP systems associated with storage tanks, valve sets and pumps.

At AstraZeneca, I was part of a maintenance team involved with every aspect of keeping a pharmaceutical plant running to an excellent GMP standard, with calibrations, trip tests, and planned maintenance the main part of the role.

My time spent at DuPont was a varied role, as part of the maintenance team looking after high speed nylon spinning machines, both planned and non-planned maintenance. Working to a strict BS5750 standard to calibrate all critical components of nylon manufacture.
