I lead the R&D Data Analytics group covering Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, Data Science, Knowledge Management, Modeling and Statistics. We are a global team working with other R&D scientists and external collaborators to enable digital transformation of research.

I lead the Bioinformatics and Genomics group in DuPont Industrial Biosciences (IB) and manage staff across multiple locations. I work closely with research and IT staff to meet the Bioinformatics and NGS needs of the IB research organization. Current focus areas are data science, animal microbiomes, protein engineering and digital transformation.

I managed the Genetic Information Systems group, which provided Bioinformatics, software development and automation engineering capabilities to research teams in the Molecular Markers, Breeding Technologies and Genomics teams. I spearheaded the adoption of agile-scrum development practices in the research IT organization and have championed their wider adoption. By focusing on Scrum development and other process changes that focused on frequent deliveries and customer alignment I lead a transformation of the working relationship with our research partners from an adversarial relationship to true collaboration. I focused on developing computational genomic resources and automation solutions that differentiated Pioneer's research capabilities from our competition.

Worked with a variety of researchers to assist them with Bioinformatics needs. Project Manager for both scientific and software development projects.

Collaborated with research scientists in a variety of groups to meet their Bioinformatics needs. Participated in external research collaborations on Proteomics and Expression Technology.

In addition to my role with DuPont Pioneer, I took on the role of Manager of the Bioinformatics, Sequencing and Automation groups in the Central Research and Development - Biotechnology department. I facilitated the transition of the Bioinformatics group from the scientific computing group into the Biotechnology group and helped align and focus efforts on Biotechnology projects in protein engineering, metabolic engineering and metagenomics. In the short time in this role, I drove the migration of internal Bioinformatics software systems from an aging Solaris platform to a linux one and served as a key connection between CR&D and Pioneer research. I helped research leaders in both organizations identify opportunities and recognize misalignments. I was involved in M&A efforts in the Microbiome space.

Led the Bioinformatics efforts for the Plant Chromatin project. Identified target chromatin protein genes in Arabidopsis and corn, prepared reports for the lab personnel who were responsible for knocking out these genes via RNAi. Developed the initial version of ChromDB.
