Dr. David Stone is a board certified Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation doctor specializing in sports medicine, interventional spine and pain management. He graduated from medical school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2009 where he was honored as the Bowman Scholar. After completion of his intern year, he moved to Denver, Colorado where he completed his residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He moved to Arizona in the summer of 2013 to train under the supervision of the physicians at Southwest Spine & Sports for a one year fellowship position. He will be joining the group at AZ Spine Disc and Sport in September 2014 as the medical director for the facility.Dr. Stone completed his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia where he was a 4 year starter for the varsity baseball team (2014 College World Series runner up). He still owns multiple career records at UVA including most games played (2nd all time), at bats (4th all time), runs scored (6th all time), hits (2nd all time), stolen bases (1st all time) and walks (1st all time). He was drafted in the 2002 Major League Baseball draft by the San Francisco Giants. His professional career was cut short by a series of arm injuries which he was unable to rehab. Due to repeated injury, he retired from baseball and started the process of applying to medical school.His mission in the office is to help his patient’s restore function through the most conservative means possible. He is excited to work with an excellent medical team of chiropractors, massage therapists and physical therapists who all have similar goals to him.
