As a former employer and business owner, I know what it takes to succeed. What I can bring to the table is my Proactive Doer mentality. I used to emphasize to my former team that there are two kinds of people in the world: “The Proactive Doers” & “the Reactive Whiners”.The doers of the world look at life’s obstacles as challenges, and their proactive nature ensures that most foreseeable problems are circumvented. Therefore, the unforeseen can be tackled with less distraction. On the other hand, the whiners tend to think the world is conspiring against them, in their mind they are never at fault, and they tend to justify poor outcomes. Since they are reactive in nature, they seem to be constantly having to put out fire, and most of them feel if they can’t better their predicament, they tend to do nothing at all.The truth of the matter is that all of us fall somewhere in between. The key is to encourage more of the Proactive Doer Mentality and less of the Reactive Whiner.I believe I can change “I can’t” to “how can I?”I also believe in “value added” rather than “entitlement”. If given the opportunity, I believe I can be an asset to your team.Three lessons I've learned:• Brand: The different between quality & perception of quality. The latter is far more important because it allows you the pricing power. You are less subjected to the vagary of commoditization & elasticity of demand. Quality is important, but perception of quality makes it a brand. The evolution & preservation of the brand in an ever changing & dynamic environment are vital to enduring & succeeding for the company.• Rapport: The ability to cultivate good rapport with customers is paramount. Customers will let you rectify problems if you have good rapport with them.• Humility: I have the humility to admit when I’m wrong & have enough common sense to ask the right questions.
