Based in New York City, Dave Upton serves as the Senior Director of Production at New 42, which encompasses the New Victory Theater, New 42nd Street Studios, and Duke on 42nd Street. In this role, he oversees the strategic planning, staffing, and operations of the Production Department. His responsibilities include season planning, budgeting, and managing the logistical and technical aspects of the New Victory Theater's presentation season, which features 12-14 international shows across various art forms annually.Dave also oversees the support, maintenance, and enhancement of production systems within all New 42 performance spaces. He has successfully led projects involving the design and installation of production infrastructure, including Studio 3AB, the New Victory Lobby, and the New Victory Architectural Lighting, as well as various system and equipment upgrades throughout the campus.Before joining New 42, Dave worked as a freelance Production Manager and Lighting Designer, contributing to Off-Broadway productions and regional theaters such as Mad Libs Live, Theater for a New Audience, Murder for Two, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Fiasco Theater, Northern Stage, Gulfshore Playhouse, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and many others. His extensive experience also includes live events both nationally and internationally, and large-scale themed entertainment projects. Notable projects include the Universal Studios Singapore – Revenge of the Mummy, Kennedy Space Center's Apollo Saturn V Firing Room Theater, Norwegian Bliss, MIT Museum - Exchange Theater, and Theatrical Lighting Design Management of the 2012 Democratic and Republican National Conventions.Combining his design expertise and management skills, Dave adopts a highly collaborative, theatrical, and individualized approach tailored for every project he undertakes.
