In addition to infrustructure system administration and system programming duties in production operations environment of approximately 300 servers and 1000 workstations utilizing Sun (Solaris), HP, x86 (Linux) and NCR 5100/3600 platforms, provided leadership role in technical infrastructure efforts, establishing standards and problem solving. Performed system administration and software development in Air Force research & development and business computer environments which included several SPARC, DEC, and HP servers, an EPOCH Systems archival server, numerous SPARC workstations, NCD X-terminals, and PCs. UNIX operating systems supported included SunOS, Solaris, OSF (DEC UNIX), ULTRIX, and HP-UX. Member of infrastructure team assembled to integrate an Intel Paragon into research and development environment. Provided technical infrastructure and application support for Air Force scientists and engineers using the Intel Paragon, including performance analysis and coding in C and PERL. Authored an introductory user’s guide for the Paragon; the document was adopted by Intel SSD as a prototype for their own documentation. Efforts also included a wide range of projects varying from computational theory to system utilities and large client server applications written in C and PERL; projects typically required several thousand lines of C and PERL code.

Infrastructure support of departmental computing resources for Computer Science and Engineering Department. These included DEC workstations and a DECsystem 5810 using ULTRIX, and numerous Sun3 and SPARC based systems using SunOS (Solaris). Duties included hardware and software installation and maintenance, networking, authoring of system utilities, and problem resolution. Installed IBM PS/2 with numerous third party controllers and peripherals in an effort to automate an optical computing research laboratory using C programs. Substantial amounts of C programming were required to interface this hardware with the existing optical laboratory equipment. Taught an ADA course for one quarter. Responsible for inventory tracking of departments $2.5 million worth of capital. Tested and used Condor, an early grid computing technology.
