Alberta guitarist, composer, and educator. I have been a professional guitarist for over 30 years. My work as a guitarist includes solo jazz and classical guitar, jazz ensemble, and all types of popular music. My work as a music educator involves private and class instruction, as well as, writing, research, course design, project coordination, supervising people, and mentoring. As an educator, I have taught at, designed courses, and performed research for three different institutions: The University of Alberta, Grant MacEwan University, and Red Deer College. As a composer, I have written for and performed nationally in a number of different situations: dance, theatre, classical ensembles from solo trombone to full orchestra, rock bands and jazz musicians. I see composition, performance, and instruction as existing on a continuum. They are all creative acts requiring commitment and energy, along with the development of a diverse skill set.I completed a doctorate in composition in 2015, exploring computer technology, and figuring out how to use music and sound to create a deeper awareness of the nature of urban spaces, and the different types of relationships that are found there.
