I am a Board Certified Family Physician with 18 years of private practice experience prior to becoming a physician executive as the first VPMA of Northeast Georgia Health System in Gainesville, GA. After 10 years in that position I accepted the position of District 2 Health Director within the Georgia Division of Public Health (now the Georgia Department of Public Health) from February 2006 until January, 2017. While serving in this position I received an MPH degree from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and have served as an affiliated professor in that program, teaching Introduction to Healthcare Management and a course on Nonprofit management. I did a "through hike" of the Appalachian Trail in 2017, and joined the faculty of the Northeast Georgia Health System's Family Medicine residency program in 2018. I volunteer building Habitat for Humanity homes in Hall County, and serve on their board, in addition to several other boards locally.
