I've been working on the performance of distributed systems since grad school.Most of the products I've worked on were acquisitions, either technology acquisitions like DCE and LDAP, or company acquisitions like Policy Director (Dascom), Identity Manager (Access/360), TCIM (Consul), and TAM ESSO (Encentuate). Organic products included PKI and now Tivoli Key Lifecycle Manager.I work with the product managers and architects to set performance and scale goals, measure and analyze the products in development, work with the developers to make the products better, help salesfolk size deployments using tools we've developed, help support teams help our customers solve performance and scaling problems that they are experiencing using tools I've developed, and then feed those experiences back into the products to improve them.I work with customers and, these days, development teams across the globe. Currently I spend a lot of time talking to Singapore, Pune, Minsk, Delft and New Haven. This is helping me increase the number of languages I can say "Hello", "Thank You", and "Goodbye" in.Specialties: Performance, scale, problem-solving
