Back in the classroom for a bit!

In my three years leading school improvement in Oldham the position of the borough's schools transformed, with the primary sector moving from 23 schools/academies less than 'good' to four, and the secondary sector moving to a larger number of good and outstanding schools and academies than at any time previously. This was based on a strategic ambition to create a school-led system, with the local authority working to develop the capacity within the system to create one that is genuinely 'self-improving'.

As CLC Manager I was responsible for developing the use of new and emerging technologies across Oldham Schools, working as part of the Learning & Attainment team. I was also Chair of the Oldham Local Safeguarding Board's e-Safety Subgroup and co-ordinator of the NW eSafety Network, and lead the Oldham Consortium for the Creative & Media Diploma. I represented NW CLCs on the City Learning Centres Liaison Committee (CLCLC), of which I was founding Chair for two years from 2007.

My responsibilities included standards, assessment and assessment data, target-setting and examinations.
