About Dave Corbett
I’m fascinated by how people learn. I have been since I first stepped into a classroom as a Student Teacher. Since that day, I have positively impacted hundreds of children’s lives working across 3 Primary Schools. When I swapped the classroom for working in Higher Education, I used the lessons learnt from teaching to develop digital pedagogical practices and drive improvement in Student experience. As well as having a minor obsession with learning, there are some other things about me:• I am positive by default, but not in the painted-on smile and inspirational quotes kind of way. I assume positive intent when interacting with others, give credit when a job has been done well and enjoy hearing success stories of my colleagues.• I care deeply about inclusion, which is why I am heavily invested in digital accessibility.• I enjoy planning and developing strategy• An old headteacher once reminded me that ‘It’s never the wrong time to do the right thing’. Even though that’s not always easy, I know that he was right.• I know how to get the best out of people.• My job does not define me. I like it that I’ve been good at the jobs that I’ve done and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, but it’s only one piece of the overall jigsaw.

I am responsible for delivering the the Digital Strategy for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. I work in close collaboration with the four devolved Digital Learning teams to do this. In my current role I have:Planned, designed and created university wide asynchronous accessibility training. Used my expertise to advise on the successful procurement of an Audience Response SystemProvided training, consultancy and support for academic colleagues using digital tools alongside pedagogical theory.Chaired our section's monthly 'KitKat' meetings where information is shared from the grassroots rather than using a top-down approach.
