  • Nogin
    Senior Designer
    Nogin Jan 2021 - Jul 2021
    Tustin, California, United States
Nogin specializes in offering intelligent e-commerce and my role there put me directly at intersection of design, data, and strategy. Everyday focused on optimizing, enhancing, and executing campaigns for competitive, international retail brands whose needs range from email marketing, to UX, to campaign designs. As a part of a larger team we collectively safeguard brand voice, brand image, and brand interaction from a vantage point informed by a deep data pool of collected consumer behaviors.
  • Idemia National Security Solutions
    Senior Designer
Idemia National Security Solutions Jul 2019 - Dec 2020
    Long Beach, Ca
As Senior Designer at NSS I helped build a foundation of branding assets that could elevate their position in the securities market. After updating their logo I developed a responsive identity system that would work effectively at all sizes and created the guidelines needed to ensure it was used properly in any scenario. This Brand Book went on to help inform design decisions for a full website overhaul, internally distributed slide decks, and pitch presentations that landed million dollar contracts.
  • Empty Design Coalition
    Co-Founder, Freelance Designer
Empty Design Coalition Feb 2002 - Jun 2019
    Orange County, California Area
Freelancing shines a strong light on the value you can bring to the table as a creative while placing you right at the intersection of art and commerce. As a tight knit team of two, we boldly dove into running our own business which taught me endlessly valuable lessons about the needs of our clients and how to aim each project at solving them. Empty put me as the lead contact which forged my confidence to speak to our abilities as creatives and the rationale behind our design choices.
  • Adventures In Design
    Producer
Adventures In Design Mar 2015 - Oct 2017
    Long Beach, Ca
Working at the AID Network, the host of the podcast Mark Brickey and I developed concepts for ongoing series and strategized how to serve our paid subscriber base with enriching content five times a week. Between researching and booking guests that would expand our audience (Paul Frank, Johnny Cupcakes, Bobby Kim of The Hundreds), to handling the social media promotions for each episode, and helping in the development of the overall brand positioning I helped push the brand of Adventures In Design forward. While my specific role was Producer, there was no task thrown my way that I considered myself above and I am very proud of the engaged community built around the podcast itself.
  • Dwntwn
    Creative Director
    Dwntwn May 2010 - Oct 2016
    La Mirada, Ca
Over my half decade as the Creative Director, I developed an in-house brand that repeatedly outperformed the internationally known names like Obey and Diamond two to one. My responsibilities extended to anything else the company needed including in store signage, co-writing the employee handbook, and art directing video shoots. Wearing so many hats allowed me learn skill sets outside of my comfort zone and hone the resourcefulness needed for a successful start up.
  • Magneto Brand Advertising
    Graphic Designer
Magneto Brand Advertising Jan 2009 - Mar 2010
    Portland, Or
My time at Magneto was an early opportunity to work with larger clients whose creative needs ranged from financial reports to promotional giveaways across print, radio, and television. The Art Director, Account Executive, and I were a tight knit team that focused on the entire roster of clients giving me a front row seat to the inner workings of a sizable advertising agency. I was given heavy responsibilities right away and took projects from their ideation stages to final print checks with our vendors.
  • Grenade Gloves
    Graphic Designer
    Grenade Gloves May 2008 - Sep 2008
    Portland, Or
The Graphics Dept at Grenade is a "hands on everything" environment from apparel, to print, to web, to production. While there, I designed the entire marketing campaign for their film "The Boned Age" and made their Spring Catalogue, among many other things. My duties included art directing photo shoots, concept development, procedural development, and designing anything that needed designing. My time there was cut short due to the market crash and the several rounds of downsizing that followed.
  • Dgwb
    Production Intern
    Dgwb Sep 2002 - Feb 2003
    Santa Ana, Ca
My internship at DGWB was a turning point for me, as it was the first time I walked into a design firm. Seeing the architecture and the complexity of one firm gave me the confidence to be a graphic designer professionally. File organization and many other not so sexy tasks were sent my way as an intern but it did allow me access to many departments within the firm and see the process of a project going from start to finish in a large firm. DGWB has since gone on to be called Amusement Park.
