In this role, I assist this large, 75 year old social service agency deliver quality care to over 20,000 vulnerable older New Yorkers through the use of effective and efficient technological solutions. That means I provide strategic advice to the leadership, manage client centered technologies, such as the acclaimed Virtual Senior Center program, and manage the team that supports 450 professional workstations.

The Institute for Medication Optimization (I4MO) is a new non-profit venture pulling together the research, experts, and data systems involved in the care of people with chronic diseases to create a safe, collaborative space for professionals to automate, standardize, measure and therefore improve the practice and processes to optimize medication therapy. I4MO is the next stage of a 15 year journey initiated by the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists Foundation to reduce medication related problems among older adults. I4MO acquired Monitor-Rx, LLC from the ASCP Foundation and IANet in 2012 and re-launched the product as MedOptz.com, an MTM practice management service, in February 2013.

The Interactive Aging Network and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists have joined forces to create a social enterprise to improve the quality of life for older adults by fostering appropriate, effective and safe medication use. The proceeds from this venture support research by the Foundation to better understand pharmaceutical care of older adults and their best medication therapies.

I led the team that launched BenefitsCheckUp, an online decision support service that identifies public and private benefit programs for older adults. At last check, over 2 million older adults and their caregivers have used the service with an average person, who is eligible to receive a benefit, eligible for benefits worth 2,000. I operationalized this start-up venture for the National Council on the Aging to develop online decision support software. The primary product was the Long-term Care Cost Calculator, which became the core application for a new business, Vital Aging. This venture was initially funded by NY Life.
