About Dave Eyerly
I have a background in startups, airlines, blockchain tech, and more. At 28 I launched my first airline in Los Angeles California, Surf Air. I came up with the vision in college at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. I served as the COO, Director of Safety, and pilot on occasion. I successfully raised funding, hired more than 100 people, obtained regulatory licenses from the FAA, and launched our first 3 aircraft in summer 2011. With the help of my incredible team, I also oversaw the development of a proprietary booking engine, operations management software, dispatch, maintenance, strategic relationships and more. As of early 2022, Surf Air has been valued at more than $1.4 billion.After my exit from Surf Air I went into consulting, working with Dealer Socket, a full service platform for auto dealers. I've now consulted or served as an advisor with companies including Whooshfly, Texas Air Shuttle, GeoBitMine, and more. I continue to consult and advise various companies.In 2017, I served as the Director of UAV Programs at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Serving in this position I was able to oversee all UAV operations on 100's of properties around the world. I worked with regulators, administrators, operators, educators, and students to develop programs to encourage safe use of UAV's and help advance the technology.In 2018 I began investing in blockchain technology. I have since worked/advised/consulted on multiple projects including gas flare mining operations, cryptocurrencies, trading bots, layer 2 and 3 platforms, and heating greenhouses with the heat from mining operations.I enjoy woodworking, traveling, 3D printing, and just about anything with my wife and kids.
