The Information Services Division (ISD) delivers quality Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) services and support to the ministries of Children and Family Development and Social Development and Poverty Reduction. ISD supports the Social Sector in its mission to deliver inclusive, culturally respectful, collaborative services and supports to children, individuals and families in British Columbia.My primary focus is a Microsoft Azure and Power BI implementation project for the Social Sector (Ministry of Social Development & Poverty Reduction and the Ministry of Children and Family Development). Focus is standing up a Minimum Viable Product in Microsoft Power BI Premium and publishing data to the cloud (all the while adhering to Canadian data tenancy laws). Later phases of this project are looking at modernization of the Corporate Data Warehouse and leveraging Microsoft Azure cloud services (e.g. Microsoft Data Catalogue).In addition, I also chair the BC Government Community of Practice on Business Intelligence.

This role is responsible for IT Security across the Social Sector (Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), and Ministry of Social development and Poverty Reduction (SDPR), as well as Privacy for SDPR. This role works closely with the BC Government Information Security team to develop IS policy and standards and evaluates changes to ensure Social Sector Compliance.My primary focus is to lead the planning, development and implementation of a ministry-wide Strategic Information Security Framework, Information Security Governance Structure, Security Incident Response Plan and Systems Security Plans to improve incident prevention, detection and response. I’ll also be investigating all security breaches to determine the source, method, and damage that occurred during the breach, as well as reviewing security event reports and determine if further investigation is required.This role also advises senior management staff and the Chief Information Officer regarding the security of existing and potential corporate or ministry computer systems, and regarding emerging information technology security approaches, as well as recommending necessary enhancements, solutions, and approaches.

The Health Sector IM/IT Division (HSIMIT) consolidates the Ministry’s information management and information technology (IM/IT) systems into one portfolio and ensures a coordinated approach across the Ministry of Health and the provincial health sector. The division promotes the integration of health sector data into daily business operations and policy development and provide sector-wide leadership for IM/IT planning and business solutions. In this role I'm responsible for the management of the Ministry's Business Intelligence (BI) portfolio - MicroStrategy, SAS, Tableau and working directly with outsourced vendors for the ongoing maintenance of upgrades of the infrastructure.

Managed the Ministry’s MIS data assets and ensured appropriate health sector performance monitoring through regular BI reporting and analysis. I lead the development and maintenance of BI applications and supported JAVA applications for major programs and program areas through the coordination and implementation of projects required for knowledge management, data analysis, and reporting. In this role I interfaced with senior project managers and ministry executives through cooperatively working on the ministry’s data security project, with a focus on protecting personal information and security of data.

Responsible for providing a lead role in the development, coordination, and management of the portfolio of WTS Workstation Services to ensure the services provided meet the strategic direction of the Government of British Columbia and supports the business and program delivery requirements of government ministries, crown corporations, agencies, and broader public sector organizations.

Applying business area analysis to deliver improved business processes to the many business areas that EDS Advanced Solutions supports, both within the company itself as well as within the Ministry of Small Business and Revenue.

Ensured all applications and websites met the needs of the clients (e.g. government, government stakeholders, general public and employees) with respect to technical architecture, navigation, and content. This position aligned project goals with clients’ strategic direction and priorities related to improving effectiveness of business processes and technologies within the clients’ service delivery model. Conducted all phases of the System Development Life Cycle from systems development, user acceptance testing and implementation.

Conducted business analysis for clients in anticipation of matching existing processes and needs to web technology. Prepared clear, concise and customer-focused communications including, but not limited to; issue papers, information articles, business cases, and project management documentation. Developed an internet strategy for the ministry consistent with the goals and objectives of the ministry’s Service Plan, stakeholders and Public Affairs Bureau. Developed and implemented several web-based stakeholder surveys of information bulletins on the Internet to assess the readability and content of the information compared to the target audience.
