History:Started writing sports for hometown newspaper as a junior in high school. That helped lead to a 24-year career as an award-wining television sportscaster, during which time, the station at which I worked for 20+ years saw its weeknight news ratings improve to #1 in the market, and stay there for seven years.Today:Now, as the head of a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, I help to honor sports media for excellence. Through networking and marketing, I am helping to grow the National Sports Media Association into a household name, while paying homage to the past and present, and mentoring the future of our industry.My Sideline Gigs:Literally and figuratively. 15 seasons as part of the Wake Forest Learfield IMG College Sports Network (radio), covering Wake Forest University football (4 seasons as pre-game host, 2 seasons as color commentator, 9 seasons as sideline reporter).Teaching a sports broadcasting class as an adjunct faculty member at Wake Forest (Fall 2017-2020); same at High Point University (Spring 2013).Also director for the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA). And for two years, provided a weekly sports commentary for WFDD Radio (NPR).
