I have been actively involved in the Radio industry since 1973. After attending Durham College in Oshawa I moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, and secured my first full-time job in Radio at CHQB Radio 1280 in Powell River B.C. in February 1977. After a year at CHQB we moved back to Ontario and joined Golden West Broadcasting's CHOO 1390 AM in Ajax, Ontario as a swing announcer moving into the news department after a few months. At CHOO I moved into radio sales out of a need for more money! From there I moved on to CJCL 1430 in Toronto, Ontario as an Account Executive in February 1983. Then it was back to CHOO in 1987 as General Manager, GSM until the summer of 1992. After a great summer off with my wife (now married for 44 years), and two young kids. In October 1992 I joined Rawlco Communications in Toronto for the launch of CISS 92.5 FM Toronto's first Country FM. In January 1996 I left CISS after a very successful time and ventured down the 401 Highway to the beautiful community of Cobourg, Ontario where I took up the position of General Sales Manager and co-owner in Pineridge Broadcasting Inc. We operated 3 FM stations which were CKSG (Star 93.3fm), CHUC (107.9fm The Breeze) in Cobourg and CJWV (Magic 96.7fm) in Peterborough. We sold these stations to MY Broadcasting Company in September 2015. After a brief retirement, actually 4 months, I started DCH Marketing Services and began, as an independent contractor, selling exclusively for Durham Radio in Oshawa in January of 2016 and remain there today. 2021 marked my 48th year in this incredible industry and I can honestly say that I love it today just as much as I did on day one. Through this period of COVID 19 Durham Radio Inc. has managed to maintain its strong revenue position and ratings, thanks to incredible leadership from majority owner Doug Kirk and his team.
