"Monolith Debt Relief Team"Foreseeing scale bottlenecks and operational issues surrounding an existing legacy monolithic codebase at Qualtrics, I started a small strike team focused on addressing the biggest pain points and risk areas in that system. Beyond leading the team, my role initially centered around hardening the infrastructure and improving the operational health of this monolithic application. Moving the deployment and production environments to a docker-based model dramatically simplified our host-level configuration management (Puppet) needs, and replaced a slew of complex legacy deployment infrastructure altogether. Revamping the development environment to run completely within docker containers also helped improve the workflow of over 100 developers, while also making the onboarding process for new developers completely trivial. It also eliminated painful differences between dev and prod environments, allowing developers to develop and test code locally in a setup much closer to how it runs in production.In the last year or so, the team's efforts have centered around starting to split apart the monolithic codebase. This has involved a huge amount of restructuring and refactoring of shared code, as well as identifying and deleting stale or unused code. Adding unit- and integration tests has also played a large role in this process. We have successfully split a few key components out of the monolith so far, and are continuing to do so in coordination with more than a dozen other engineering teams and their stakeholders.

"ResponseEngine / Data Platform"While previously involved in architecting a scalable front-end for our reporting platform, I was also invested in re-imagining our data pipeline and response data aggregation systems to be flexible and scalable enough to power that front-end.I joined and led this new team through a months-long data migration plan, also working to migrate existing integrations with legacy data provider APIs over to the new system. Specifically, my role on the team centered around proving and hardening our infrastructure and operations around Galera (a clustered MySQL implementation).I was among the first to introduce Continuous Integration pipelines (using Jenkins) within our Engineering team. I also helped drive org-wide adoption of Docker within our dev, staging, and production environments as a way of ensuring build isolation and repeatability, eliminating cross-environment inconsistencies, and simplifying deployments.

"Reporting Platform Team"As a tech lead on the Reporting Frameworks Engineering team at Qualtrics, I lead a small group of talented engineers. We architected and developed a modular, scalable platform that allows our customers to easily discover meaningful trends and correlations in the data they've collected using Qualtrics' world-class insights platform.Using NodeJS, AngularJS, and MongoDB, we built a dashboarding platform. This platform is the basis upon which several other engineering teams at Qualtrics are building rich data visualization functionality. We created some core javascript libraries and a framework for dynamically loading and configuring data visualization "widgets", as well as their data sources and filters.
