I am currently the Programme Leader for the Management and Compliance courses, having been promoted from an administration role. I am also the sole administrator for the Financial & Business Skills (FBS) part of the Professional Skills Course (PSC) for solicitors, a role which involves organising and chairing board meetings, as well as drawing up minutes and arranging for results and certificates to be circulated to the candidates in a timely fashion. I have worked in most departments during my 13 years at Kaplan Altior and have become the longest serving member of staff. In addition to my office work, I have accumulated substantial experience in Advocacy for Civil, Family and Commercial matters, playing both witnesses and solicitors. I have participated as a delegate in a pilot course for Advocacy and Communication Skills for Kaplan Altior’s top city clients. I completed and passed the assessment, playing the role of a solicitor at the same competency as that expected on the PSC. I have also participated in similar roles for other Solicitors’ Regulation Authority (SRA) accredited courses such as the Qualified Assurance for Advocates pilot. I successfully completed three of Kaplan Altior’s PSC elective courses as a delegate - ‘Time & Stress Management for Lawyers’ in May 2011, ‘Negotiation Skills for Lawyers’ in April 2014 (which involved me participating in a mediation scenario as one of the client’s commercial solicitors) and Commercial Awareness & Business Writing Skills in July 2014. In 2013 I also completed the Kaplan Business Challenge. The trainers have commented that my competency outshone some of the delegates who were already in training contracts. My role includes being an examination invigilator on the FBS and Qualified Lawyers’ Transfer Test assessments and in June 2014 for external CILEx examinations in-house legal apprenticeships. Having already developed an interest in law I started at Altior (now Kaplan Altior) at 15 years old doing work experience before securing a holiday job as an Office Junior. I remained in this position while I was completing my GCSEs and A Levels. I gradually took on more responsibility, covering full time staff during the summer holiday period and successfully fulfilling several roles. I remained at Altior on a part time basis throughout my studies and have developed up-to-date… Show more Having already developed an interest in law I started at Altior (now Kaplan Altior) at 15 years old doing work experience before securing a holiday job as an Office Junior. I remained in this position while I was completing my GCSEs and A Levels. I gradually took on more responsibility, covering full time staff during the summer holiday period and successfully fulfilling several roles. I remained at Altior on a part time basis throughout my studies and have developed up-to-date knowledge of information technology, including database and file management processes, as well learning how produce course materials. I have also enhanced my communication and team building skills enormously as I deal with tutors, delegates and venues on a daily basis. I have also been able to participate in a wealth of internal training on customer services, health and safely, first aid, fire awareness and numerous other courses. I was the lead male role player for the Higher Rights of Audience Advocacy assessments and I remained in this position for several years, still occasionally stepping in if required.
