An early proponent and developer of IoT (Internet of Things) networks with a focus on connecting fielded products to the factory through Digital Threads to enable Digital Twins, Dave's research & commercialization efforts since the late 1990s has been to "give a digital voice to the product" by evolving an advanced IoT global architecture to support dispersed, engineering-complex fielded products with an early focus in aerospace - thus enabling real-time PLM data to/from products deployed in the field. A former US Navy Commander and military pilot in joint operations, war gaming and field experimentation, he also has a diverse background in emerging visualization and project applications for complex engineering related systems, including data management and digital publishing for aerospace, building systems, transportation and other industries. While at UTRC and Pratt & Whitney, his innovation mindset set the foundation for 11 of his 13 US issued patents in early IoT applications in aircraft and industrial systems health management, with products he developed commercialized by UTC now in service throughout the world. He has supported clients in his past consulting business including NASA, the FAA, and a variety of commercial aerospace companies in the US and Asia.
