Led ARRT to initiate its digital transformation journey. Engaged the board on strategic planning & visioning, and on project prioritization to focus the overall mission of ARRT. Program Manager, Product Model Adoption. Program Manager for transformation across multiple Operations areas. Led teams in development, integration, infrastructure, data governance and OCM. Assumed ownership for existing workstreams; changed and improved initiation steps and product structure as new workstreams were started. Worked with IS VP to define Product Owner model and Business Architecture Capability model. Recommended / implemented improvements to PMO structure, engagement models and role descriptions. Provided recommendations for structuring additional programs.

Program Manager for the Corporate Actuarial Program in support of regulatory (LDTI) changes, a four year program involving: implementation of the FIS Prophet tool suite; introduction/evolution of new modeling techniques, projections and data transformations; and utilization of new PMCS / AWS cloud solutions. Working closely with the Chief Actuary and the Actuarial leadership team on re-vitalization of scrum and product practices, and on several OCM elements to lead them through the changes.

Helped establish the new role and ‘office’ of the Chief Data & Analytics (D&A) Officer (the role and person were both new to UHC). Assessed the multi-billion annual capital and opex plans, identifying the D&A-specific spend. Used findings to help identify initial D&A priorities in technologies, budgeting and transformation planning. Part of leadership team that stood up an organization-wide D&A Transformation Program.

Rochester, Minnesota Area

Shifted the focus of $150m portfolio planning to align to business planning. Strengthened the business architecture function to enable the business areas to define the capabilities required to meet their 10-year goals. Re-defined PMO governance to support the business partners. Created initiatives to define and track business-defined metrics at the overall portfolio level, shifting away from operational and technical activities. Significant change-management engagement with senior business leadership.

Client engagement and quality engineering. Provided onsite engagement and account manager for Quality Engineering. Focused on quality test automation using two proprietary test frameworks and standard, ISO-modeled approaches. Oversaw delivery of 30+ individuals in multiple locations across 18 products and projects; in many cases, this work was the client team’s introduction to test automation. Included stepping in as a Scrum Master for a portion of the assignment. Engaged in coaching and mentoring of several client leaders and managers in agile structure, delivery and scaling

Business Agility Transformation Initiative. Established an agile leadership mindset for the executive sponsors, to create a culture of a more responsive and nimble organization. Clarified the agile roles that the business should be owning and leading. Developed first business agility roadmap & journey map. Delivered first iterations of a Business Value Model and Demand Management Framework. Delivered first set of business-focused agile metrics, including a metric reporting portal separate from the technical-focused reporting.
