Hired to take charge of all technical aspects of the development and support of the Solitaire Film Recorder product line, including customer relationship building and third-party developers. Responsible for staying on top of new industry innovations and recommending/implementing them into customer work flows. This includes continuous training on various storage/server technologies.Lead the development of engineering solutions that include hardware-software design, training, and support of digital imaging products as well as the associated computer/storage infrastructure required in the support of major post-production efforts. Oversee product specification, coordination among various cross-functional teams, and implementation of hardware, software and firmware improvements.• Achieved prestigious position as industry leader – despite limited resources – as the premier producer of imaging technology for use in large format motion pictures.• Led enhancement of Solitaire film recorder to enable complete 2D and 3D feature films such as Interstellar, Avatar, Dark Knight. Met and exceeded requirements imposed by highly demanding customers including, Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, Michael Bay and others.• Dramatically increased product usage so that every feature movie produced in IMAX can be produced using Solitaire recorders.• Completed transition of the Solitaire film recorder product line from Imation and developed new capabilities including production of special effects for feature-length movies in the IMAX format.• Achieved faster imaging and better quality for Solitaire film recorders, which significantly improved Solitaire’s viability in the highly competitive post-production market.

Led technical aspects of transition of the Solitaire product line from EFI / Management Graphics to Imation. Managed training, set goals, and monitored progress to ensure milestones were met. Allocated resources and set service pricing. • Led the development of a new version of Solitaire that runs twice as fast enabling product line to continue several more years.• Successfully transitioned complex mature product line to new company. Increased revenue from less than $1M to over $2M within two years.

Key member of a team of engineers that were instrumental in advancing EFI / Management Graphics to the leading company in the post-production film-out industry. Designed and implemented highly reliable, digital film recording output devices used during production of Hollywood movies. Provided technical expertise to Hollywood and International special effects companies.• Collaborated closely with third-party developers including Pixar, Disney, Sony, ILM, and NASA. Provided detailed guidance during cooperatively developed applications that interfaced with EFI’s film recorder products.• Specified, designed, and implemented embedded firmware and hardware control systems: Used Motorola 32-bit micro-controllers and Analog Devices DSPs to create custom-build, embedded, real-time operating systems and hardware. Specified, designed, and implemented Windows, SGI, & Macintosh software for use in digital imaging applications using object oriented design methods. Implemented algorithms for image manipulation, color correction, and mechanical control., Management Graphics (1989–1995)• Provided valuable input that helped lead to an Academy Award for Technical Achievement for Management Graphics. Assisted in the definition of project requirements defining the cine film recorder. This product has been used by nearly all major movie studios to provide highly accurate, photorealistic film-out of special effects sequences. • Provided high-level, hands-on engineering support – including system integration, networking, and training – for customers in the computer graphics industry.
