As Publisher for the Caribbean and International Curriculum at Macmillan, I was a founding board member of a new publishing project looking to introduce Macmillan to the international schools market for the first time, as well as maintaining overall editorial responsibility for a full range of products from Early Years to CAPE (A-Level) for the well-established Macmillan Caribbean list.In addition to this I was also responsible for the line management and development of six editorial team members and maintaining full P&L control for both lists.

At OUP I was the Commissioning Editor on an international publishing project that combined educational publishing and English Language Teaching methodologies to assist the learning of curriculum subjects by students who have English as an additional language.The main focus of the role was launching the 'Oxford International Primary' series, a complete suite of products at primary level for international schools covering Maths, Science, Geography, Computing and Social Studies.

As Lead Commissioning Editor for the UK and International teams, I was responsible for line managing a team of four Commissioning Editors, as well as carrying out interview and selection procedures for the recruitment of new staff. Additionally, I implemented a mentoring program for Development Editors to enable them to gain commissioning skills alongside their day-to-day editorial role.While retaining the full responsibilities of a Commissioning Editor, I was also tasked with building and maintaining relationships with other members of senior management to form cross-functional teams, training new staff, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the UK and International lists.

In my time as Commissioning Editor at NT, I had overall responsibility as project sponsor for over 50 components across 27 courses, with projects that spanned diverse global markets in the UK, the Caribbean, and International Schools worldwide.This included resources for both primary and secondary levels, and covered a range of examination boards such as Cambridge International Examinations, AQA, and the Caribbean Examinations Council.In this role I was able to develop strong relationships with examiners, syllabus writers, teachers and awarding bodies, as well as conducting wide ranging market research in a variety of formats.

I started at Focal Press as an Editorial Assistant on the Photography list, and was promoted to Associate Acquisitions Editor after a year in the post. The Associate role combined the commissioning, development and project management of 10-12 of my own titles per year, along with the project management of a further 10-12 titles commissioned by senior editors.As Associate Acquisitions Editor, I exceeded my signings target each year, while also managing over 45 products from contract through to publication including trade titles, textbooks and bespoke digital products.This included responsibility for the project management and development of six of the eight highest revenue earning titles on the Photography list.
