Originally a Commercial Projects Assistant, I progressed to Marine Consultant within a short period and then again to Consultancy Manager in 2014, before taking on the role of Business Manager. Within this role I was responsible for the following:• Management of the scientific research and consultancy aspects of the business• Overseeing all environmental project work• Project management and design• The production of technical reports, data analysis and the writing of proposals• Business development, client liaison and offering consultancy advice• Managing a team of consultantsThe company focuses on providing environmental services to several sectors including offshore aggregate extraction, ports and harbours, renewable energy developments, coastal infrastructure, statutory nature conservation bodies and government agencies. I have recently managed several large-scale projects including:• Environmental monitoring programme for the multi-billion pound London Gateway Port Development• The largest commercial benthic survey commissioned to date in the UK• A series of Environmental Impact Assessments for the aggregate extraction industry• Several renewable energy developments• Conservation and consent reviews for various private sector clients• Primary research projects for local and national enterprises e.g. Natural England and JNCC.Through the course of my work I have undertaken several stakeholder involvement projects, and communicated with government, NGO and industry representatives on a regular basis. I have demonstrated considerable ecological knowledge, excellent written and verbal communication skills with expertise in producing environmental reports, data analysis, and associated GIS inputs as well as showing good management, interpersonal and organisational skills.

Employed with Defence Estates (Ministry of Defence) working as part of the Estate Management Review Team. In this role I provided general support to civilian and military personnel working to streamline the management practices of Defence Estates with regard to their environmental assets. I left this position as I was offered a studentship to undertake my MSc.

Based on a small island off the East African coast, I was a key part of a small team involved in running a research project undertaking scientific data collection. Main responsibilities included running of the scientific data collection programme, training of volunteers and local staff in marine ecology and survey techniques, project logistics and report writing. During my time in Tanzania, the company was contracted to map and survey the marine environments surrounding three offshore islands by a local marine protected area authority, with a view to extending a nationally important Marine Protected Area to include the sites.
