Knowledgeable with the operation and maintenance of all Ohmsett facility mechanics including bridges, oil refurbishment equipment, tank farm and water filtration equipment. Oversee the work of other technicians and laborers and assist Test Director during test runs. Main duties include: Pretest rigging of response equipment, operating the fluid recovery system, man operational stations on larger skimmers, assist in making necessary adjustments between individual test runs, assist in the fluid treatment work as needed, and organizing and assisting in post-test de-rigging and cleanup. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all facility equipment including pumps, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and all piping. Exercise safe and proper handling of all chemicals used on site including diatomaceous earth and test oils. Install and operate all mechanical equipment. Prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary of daily test logs for analysis by Test Director, Technical Writer, and customers. Conduct chemical and physical lab evaluations using pH meter, chemicals, centrifuge, analytical instrumentation and chemical laboratory equipment.

Responsible for the operation and maintenance of various tasks at the Ohmsett facility including masonry work, carpentry, welding, metal work and other general duties pertinent to repairing and upgrading the facility. Performed heavy equipment repair on vehicles, gas and diesel engines, pumps and piping systems, minor electrical repair and fluid filter repair, operation and maintenance. Actively participated in all test programs and performed the installation of several instrumentation setups for demonstrating the mechanical and operation ability of oil spill cleanup devices as well as data recording. Experience with electric/hydraulic power supplies pumps and electric generators. Also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the US Filter Autojet 1000 DE Filtration and Oberlin 2 ft. dewatering press. Substitute N-2 Operator for the Port Authority in Elizabeth, NJ and for Yonkers at Fresh Kill Landfill in Staten Island, NY.

Supported emergency response and remediation technology research and development for the US EPA Environmental Emergency Response Unit and US EPA research and development contracts. Responsibilities included operating, repairing and maintaining electric/hydraulic power supplies, pumps, generators, piping systems, automobiles, forklifts, backhoes, front-end loaders, trucks and soil washing systems. Performed tank and open water testing of oil spill cleanup devices and installed instrumentation for pump and oil boom tests. Served as data collector for test projects for the evaluation of remediation technologies.

Mechanical Technician for the Ohmsett Facility. Conducted remote remediation technology research and development for the US EPA involving soil and groundwater remediation. Operated analytical field laboratory which included gas chromatography/purge and trap, infrared spectroscopy and biological oxygen demand (BOD). Installed well monitoring level sensors, system processing elements such as pH flow and conductivity meters.
