Over the past five years, I have worked in a range of managerial and product delivery roles at Canonical and Telstra. I am currently working as an Engineering Manager at Canonical leading a high performance software development team automating operations. I was previously an acting Principal Lead (Enterprise Product Engineering) at Telstra.I am a global thought leader speaking at tech conferences around the world. My specialty is Python including web, DevOps, testing, design and leadership skills.I am passionate about helping companies plan and strategise product delivery to ensure a high-quality customer experience. During my time at Telstra, I have managed the successful delivery of a range of core initiatives, including enterprise (in the cloud and API space) and consumer (Wi-Fi/Modem) products, and more. To do this, I have defined technology strategies and roadmaps for the product experience, and led high-performing teams of up to 130 staff including Solution Architects, Software Developers, Domain Specialists, Product Managers and others. I enjoy and thrive in leadership positions, and have a keen interest in technology as a whole. During my time in the Acting Principal Lead Role, I unblocked major product initiatives that required additional funding and people, have led cross-company annual planning and prioritisation, and supported organisational design including the execution of a restructure, aligning the team closer to product delivery. Aside from my passion for leadership and product delivery, I also have a keen interest in getting the most out of my teammates while helping them grow. This includes empowering and inspiring colleagues to be their best selves at work in both group and individual settings. Telstra - Product Experience Technology Product OwnerTelstra Jun 2021 - Jul 2022Sydney, Nsw, AuAs a Product Experience Technology Product Owner, I led a team of over 40 staff including Software Developers, Product Managers, Designers and Quality Assurance Specialists with a budget of over $5m and supporting revenue of over $100m. This included defining the technology strategy for the product experience, and prioritising the backlog and set sprint goals to ensure high quality releases.I also improved platform stability and operational performance, optimised delivery processes and software standards and delivered a high-quality customer support experience, set objectives and reviewed performance of team members, and collaborated with product, architecture leadership and cyber security.Key Achievements:- Accelerated deployments from once every few months to every sprint, delivering value to customers faster.- Overhauled manual testing to be automated, reducing costs and increasing quality.- Encouraged a DevOps model instead of split responsibility, allowing developers to be responsible for operations and writing code, helping them focus on customer needs.- Moved the team closer to agile delivery, allowing Product Managers to work closely with design and developers to improve customer experiences.- Aligned with senior executives and started the execution of turning a single product portal into a multi-product platform.

Telstra - Senior Wi-Fi Product ManagerTelstra Aug 2019 - Sep 2020Sydney, Nsw, AuAs a Senior Wi-Fi Product Manager, I led the technical delivery of a new Wi-Fi product experience, defined how the product was based on customer pain points, translated that into what technical delivery teams needed to build, and resolved problems identified during the build.I also ensured that standards were met, such as security, legal requirements and customer experience, worked with the go to market specialist to ensure that the marketing information and strategy reflected how the product was being built, and translated technical information so it could be understood by business stakeholders, enabling them to make critical trade-offs to deliver the product on time.Key Achievements:- Launched a new Wi-Fi product earning revenue of ~$500k per month.- Delivered the Wi-Fi features within the roughly $3m budget and on time.- Adapted the product to mitigate COVID-19 impacts on customer support.- Delivered the first fully digital consumer product experience at Telstra.- Resolved many issues identified as blockers by the delivery teams, such as prioritising features, resolving incompatibility issues, and product constructs conflicting with legal requirements.- Reduced cloud hosting costs of a key Wi-Fi analysis tool by ~$100k.- Conducted vendor management for a key Wi-Fi analysis tool which was enhanced to deliver key product requirements at no cost to Telstra.
