Over the past five years, I have worked in a range of managerial and product delivery roles at Canonical and Telstra. I am currently working as an Engineering Manager at Canonical leading a high performance software development team automating operations. Telstra - Product Experience Technology Product Owner
As a Product Experience Technology Product Owner, I led a team of over 40 staff including Software Developers, Product Managers, Designers and Quality Assurance Specialists with a budget of over $5m and supporting revenue of over $100m. This included defining the technology strategy for the product experience, and prioritising the backlog and set sprint goals to ensure high quality releases.I also improved platform stability and operational performance, optimised delivery processes and software standards and delivered a high-quality customer support experience, set objectives and reviewed performance of team members, and collaborated with product, architecture leadership and cyber security.Key Achievements:- Accelerated deployments from once every few months to every sprint, delivering value to customers faster.- Overhauled manual testing to be automated, reducing costs and increasing quality.- Encouraged a DevOps model instead of split responsibility, allowing developers to be responsible for operations and writing code, helping them focus on customer needs.- Moved the team closer to agile delivery, allowing Product Managers to work closely with design and developers to improve customer experiences.- Aligned with senior executives and started the execution of turning a single product portal into a multi-product platform.
