In 2022 I was the Convenor of the Finance Track for the Heads of State Transforming Education Summit at the UN General Assembly. I was a co-founder of the Global Campaign for Education, Board member for many years of the Global Partnership for Education (and chair of it's Strategy and Impact Committee) and I continue to serve as Chair of the Right to Education Initiative. External / global roles in this period:• Co-founding and sitting on the international board of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), • Managing the Commonwealth Education Fund (with Oxfam and Save the Children), from 2002-2008, a fund of £14 million set up by Gordon Brown. Reporting to a Board chaired by Eddie George, Governor of the Bank of England and including Amartya Sen and corporate CEOs.• Managing the Right to Education project (www.right-to-education.org) from 2007, .• Evaluating World Bank investment in education – serving on an External Experts Panel to guide the evaluation of the World Bank’s investment of $14 billion in education since 1990 – • Overseeing the evaluation of the Education Fast Track Initiative ($3million evaluation in 2009 of the $1.5billion fund) and being elected to the FTI Board as one of two civil society representatives in 2010.
