Managed the rating and pricing for a $250 million block of Commercial and Medicare business. This responsibility included the core HR activities of hiring, reviews, disciplinary and promotability. Strong mentoring skills across a mix of analysts and actuarial program candidates. Collaborated with development teams and business partners to create new rate manual tool as rate filing moved from annual filings to quarterly filings. Developed rating and underwriting design requirements to address rate manual pain points and create a new application controlling a 400 page manual with less than 25 inputs.  Developed proforma cost impacts to the overall claims budget by analyzing the facility contracts. In addition to considering the direct items such as per unit cost or volume shifts, used data analysis to estimate the overhead impacts of administering the financial terms. Developed an actuary data mart used by the rating and pricing analytic group as the central repository to support all analytic efforts. This central repository reduced reporting cycle times by 4 days allowing the team to be more responsive to actuary model “what-if” analysis.

A member of a multi-discipline implementation team responsible for managing the health plan transition and business operations conversion to the Facets system.  Responsible for teaching the provider team data management techniques to profile legacy system data Lead consultant who was responsible for the successful configuration of multiple insurance plan’s Facets providers, provider reimbursement and capitation modules: including identifying and documenting business requirements, and recommending configuration strategies to fulfill the business requirements. Responsible for developing the insurance plan’s teams; including Facets knowledge transfer (application and database table structure and relationships);use of analytic tools such as MS-Access databases; and common data management analytic approaches. Developed client specific data load processes that were used during the initial configuration to populate the system tables. Using the data loads transformed the teams from a data entry to business rule management thereby increasing the productive capacity of the team by 20% and shortening build cycle times by 15%.  Developed systematic, business rule driven, validation techniques to ensure the configuration activity –whether data loads or on-line entry – were consistently and correctly aligned with configuration decisions and standards. Managed business relationships with peer business competency areas to support the understanding of configuration decisions, data field/data mapping needs and identify business rules required to properly manage the interface or extract development efforts.
