I manage operation of one of Cayman's analytical laboratories, where we primarily support organic chemists with HPLC, LC/MS, NMR, and GC analysis of reaction mixtures, intermediates, and final catalog products. I am responsible for managing the lab's work load, maintaining instruments, and overseeing the quality of data and performance of everyone in the lab. There are new projects always coming our way so I spend a lot of time developing new methods of analysis. We also provide preparative HPLC service for difficult separations. I am responsible for the analysis of compounds and reaction mixtures to assess purity and identity of the components. I provide support to organic chemists who are synthesizing purified compounds for sale for academic and forensic research purposes. My work revolves around using HPLC, LC/MS, GC/FID, and NMR instrumentation. In addition to analytical work, I purify molecules using preparative HPLC that are difficult to separate by other means.

My work involved the making and quality control of several colorimetric and fluorometric assay kits for research use. Additionally, I did enzyme purification and lipid synthesis.
