Guitarist, Percussionist, Pianist
CurrentI first began learning to craft music in my early childhood. I have 10 years of classical piano lessons from early in my life. I first started learning percussion as a line snare drummer for the SJNMA Pipe Band in Delafield WI. In autumn of 2010 I began volunteering at a non-profit public performance space (The Space For Ames) running door for the shows, tallying door money and providing general security and occasional sound set-up for shows. I met an increasing number of extraordinarily talented and hard working musicians who became friends and mentors to me. In November of 2010 through connections made at the space I purchased my drums, and was asked to join the band Mumford's as an auxillary percussionist. I recorded a number of singles and an album with Mumford's, went on two national tours, played Gross Domestic Product, the 80/35 music festival, South By Southwest music festival, The Space For Ames 12 (and 15) Hour Music marathon (3 years) with Mumford's. In my capacity as an aux percussionist, I recorded at The Spacement Studios, The Alexander Recording Company, Liberty House Studios (now Wabi Sound), Soundfarm Studio, Righteous Dog Studio, Pinnacle Recordings. I've played the Maintenance Shop, The Octagon Center for the Arts, opened for Jimmy Cliff at Simon Estes Amphitheater in Des Moines, all with Mumford's. In other bands I have played Little Big Fest in Des Moines, The Iowa State Historical Society, The House of Bricks, Vaudeville Mews, Wooly's, and many many other venues across the United States. It is through Mumford's and The Space for Ames that I met the members of the other bands I am in, which has included Bleujack,The Colt Walkers, Strong Like Bear, Longshadowmen, Risky Revival, Utopia Park, Taramis, and Jordan Mayland and the Thermal Detonators who opened for The Zombies in the Ames City Hall Auditorium at the third Maximum Ames Music Festival. In September we also played on the Great Day morning news show on Channel 23 KCWI Des Moines.
